As a yearly outing I take my dad fishing, on or near fathers day. I purchased a new boat this year so he wont have a problem getting around in it as he doesn't walk as good as he used to. This year we decided to go to clear lake I was there many years ago, fished it with a buddy and saw some nice trout come out of there. So I told my dad lets go there, well he said he was there once too so off we drove round 530.we thought we could start fishing by 630,but we got a little lost and finally arrived round 730.The day was overcast but the sun finally came out, around noon, we had no trouble launching my 17ft lund, we started off around 800am trolling but not getting many bites, so I decided to drift fish, there wasn't any wind so I wouldn't have to drop anchor. Many fish were on the screen all day, finally my dad caught the first fish about 930 ,I waited for my first one, as my dad had four before, I got it{laughing}Usually its the other way around. but What a great fathers day it would be. as I got the last laugh, after nine fish in the livewell,mostly averaging,12 to 13 inches it was my turn to catch the last fish as my father watched. I decided to try a rubber worm weedless with a double hook in it, thinking a would try for a bass (I hear there are some nice ones) On the second cast I let it hit the bottom, just started to retrieve it when I felt a little twitch, as I was thinking of Roland Martin,I set the hook .Then bam I had hooked something, thinking it was a BASS ,I started to reel in when it was bigger then I thought ,then it came straight out of the water, I saw then it wasn't a bass but a nice trout, After ten minutes, it finally tired and we got it into the net, It was one of the bigger trout I've caught it was,18" and about 3lbs.needless to say, it was memorable for both my father and me, just like it was when I was a kid. We will be coming back next year hoping my father gets the next big one, for after all it was "fathers day "
