Got to fish American today with Gringo Pescador and rseas. I was really looking forward to the trip after having a pretty hard weekend of work. My one day off so make the most of it!
We launched and had lines in the water by 5:45, which may have been too late. Definitely it was a morning bite. We ran two downriggers, one stacked, one lead line, and one surface. The fish were marking from teens to 50ish feet. We trolled the usual kokanee type gear. For bait we had maggots and corn. Didn’t seem to matter much, but rseas rods had all the action and he was adding scent. We each hooked a football, unfortunately mine came off at the net – totally my fault as I horsed it the last few feet.
Our fish came two off deep rods (45ish feet) and one off the lead line, one color. We also got a couple rainbow on the surface line. Beautiful conditions and gorgeous fish, but overall it was slow. We saw a few caught, but not much, and seemed to be pretty well done by 8-9am.
I did return home with a list of boat modifications to work on, and had to order a new foot switch for my electric trolling motor. $$$ !!!
Good luck out there.
