I promised myself if I was going to start posting I was going to include both good and bad days... so here it goes. Still trying to figure samish out, trolled from about 8 until 11 with one on the downrigger at all depths and one flatlining. Used wedding rings, and hoochie with no luck. Tried both corn and worm, but not even a bite. I am determined to figure this lake out as so many claim it is one of their favorite kokanee lakes. As always any day on the water is the best possible way to spend a day, even without fish.

It will get better as it warms up. I went out sat and all but one came off of the flat lined rig. This time last year it was a downrigger show getting most of them at around 40ft but it seems like they were mostly on the surface last weekend. A pink and silver wedding ring with a pink smiley blade and pink maggets was doing the trick on the surface. Aslo a crazy troll will often trigger more strikes, about every min. I would speed up and then stop then get going at normal speed and about 5 seconds after I stopped after speeding up I would have a takedown. I would also suggest soaking your corn in tuna oil, that has worked real well in the past for me up at cavanaugh. Hopefully this will help in your quest to figure out this lake.

Thank you very much for the tips. I plan on going out later this week and will probably try the tuna oil trick. Also have not tried maggots yet so probably will try that as well next time.

I fished Samish last Saturday caught 6 lost 6, fished along side the hwy from the launch, I was on the water at 7 am bite was on,
until 8:00am then not a strike after that, so I left at 9:00 am, all my strikes were in the top 10 ft of water, chrome dodger, red wedding band with a bronze blade tipped with white shoepeg corn, with my secret marinade.
I went back to Samish this morning this time I got on the lake at 5:15 am bite was hot same spot same gear caught 2 but lost at least 10 at the boat, could not get my net on the fish, bad shoulder. at 8:00 am the bite shut down, I had my boat on the trailer by 8:30.

The Kokanee in this lake are huge almost every fish I caught was a fat 12 to 14 ".
