After making a downrigger for my raft I decided I wanted to try for some kok's. My plan was to get up early and try clear lake... That didn't happen. I woke up very late so decided I'd give wilderness a try since it's closer. On my drive over there my phone rings so I pull over and answer it. It's my boss telling me I got a promotion!!! Already a great day!
Anyway, I get to the lake a little after 1100, set my downrigger to about 17' with a 4/0 dodger and pink hootchie tipped with corn and maggots. Nothing. I try a few different depths, but I'm not marking much on the finder either. I switch to a pink wedding ring with same bait and start at 15', I start getting a few bites. Finally I get one, a nice planter bow. I kept varying depths, but all I could get was bow's.
A nice little lake, and I'll figure the kok's out yet. Talked to a few people heading out when I headed in (I landed 2 bows and lost a couple too) and they gave me some advice on kokanee out there, nothing too specific, but enough to give me a slightly better idea.
