We tried a new lake today -- Ballinger was the choice for me and my two sons. Great location for taking a boat ride and some fishing. We launched our boat just before noon. Half-way around the little island in the middle of the lake, we connected and landed a trout -- this one swam deep and slow prior to being brought to our boat. The wind really picked up as we made our way back around the little island, but then the sun finally broke out to offset the windy conditions. This is a beautiful lake with homes/docks on the lake, a golf course on one side, and fishing locations/dock. My two sons had fun practicing their casting while we trolled. Not much fish to show back home, but my sons had a fun time. We'll be back to Ballinger for another boat ride with the whole family and another try at fishing.

That is a great lake for kids. If you troll the other side of the island about 40 feet from the island about 15' down and by the time to get to the south tip fish on.

Hey, saw you out there on Sunday, me and my buddy were in a 8 ft livingston, trolling inline spinners and small crankbaits. Fairly productive on the side nearer to Nile golf course (not Ballinger golf) SW corner - Plenty of action, but mostly small trout. Hope you and your sons catch more fish next time!
