My Memorial Day weekend was a bust for fishing because I re aggravated an infection in my foot. The cold windy weather conditions on Saturday and the low lunar ratings made any attempt to toss aline successfully fruitless. My buddy and Walaker Rocky made it up to fish with me but we just weren't able to hook up. But Friday I had a chance to take out the pontoon boats with Joe aka FishinChristian and fish with him. The Bluegill in Pond 4 were on fire as nearly every deep weed pocket we found near emerging milfoil blooms produced fish. There are some bigger than your hand "Bull Bluegill" in Pond 4. Finding them is the tricky part. I was pleased that the gills responded to my "Gillus Nyph" micro jig and nearly all the big fish were caught on that lure. I ended up switching to a 2.5" 'Damzel Nymph' smoke/chartruse tail Jig of my design to see if I could coax any non spawning bass to bite. I don't know how many times the largemouth Bass smacked that jig as soon as it hit the water... I was talking to a bank angler in front of some cattials on the west side of the pond when a 4 to 5 pound largemouth sucked in my jig. I backed the pontoon boat away as it jumped and cleared the water, but she wrapped me around a stick up and broke my line. Still, when you are using something they will hit on almost every cast- it don't get any better than that! Thanks again Joe. Sorry I missed out on our Catfish trip. Till next time!( Guys- Email me @ dobberdeluxe@yahoo.com if you'd like to try my jigs.) tight lines. Jiggy
