Me and my friend Adam went out early on this Saturday morning, we picked Ballinger because they had recently stocked the lake with 3000 trout; May 21, 2012. We got out onto the lake at about 7:45, it was overcast and cloudy, even a bit a sprinkles at times. The water temp was 57º and regular temperature was 50º. Within 2 minutes of being on the lake BOOM FISH ON and we had our first fish in the boat. We had bite after bite all morning, we threw the small ones back. It didn't matter what part of the lake either. I took home 5 trout each around 11 inches. In total we caught 16 trout and were off the lake by noon. All the trout fell into the 9"-12" category. Oddly enough, the bigger ones that we kept definitely had some girth to them. Each of us went home with our limit of 5 fish each. It was a great morning at Ballinger.
