Sprague appears to be done for until this fall. I fished from 2:00 AM until 3:00 PM with only one hit (no fish). No one else I talked to had done any better; not that there were many others to talk to.
The water temperature is in the High 70's to low 80's and the algae has the water looking like soup, pea soup.
There were good days on Sprague this spring, but nothing like it has been in the past few years. Time to hope the fall will be better.
As a side note, the regulations for crappie need to be changed in Sprague. At least the ice fishing regulations need to be changed. Some people have believed that the walleye have eaten the crappie; I do not concur. Drop by the East boat launch this winter and watch come groups taking out 2 to 5 five gallon buckets of crappie per person each day. The crappie concentrate in this area in the winter and become very easy to catch. The crappie boom began well after the walleye were established, the walleye could not have just decided to start eating 7" crappie.
Good fishing and let me know what you think.
