The catching at Stevens isn't as good as last year, but the size of the fish is making up for that. I believe that something caused the population of the kokanee to significantly decrease (compared to last year), which is why they are harder to catch. It would also explain why the average size is larger for the ones we do catch.
We ran custom wedding ring type spinners 8-11" behind 0000 dodgers of various colors. Tipped with shoepeg corn. We caught fish from 30-70' deep. Our most common trolling speed was 1.2MPH.
We landed 10 out of 11 fish hooked. Pictured is the 4 I took home, with my buddy getting the rest.
I think we learned a couple things that should help us do better next time.
