On the water at 0530 and started catching fish right away. Came in at 0630 to get buddy. Stayed on the water until 0730. I kept 4 he kept 3. We threw back 10 or so total and lost a few others. Mostly we were using a 4/O dodger with a hoochie about 18" back about 40 pulls out. I used a green hoochie and he a pink. We pack the nose with power bait. I also had a red wedding ring out and hooked up right away as well. Most in the 11 to 12" range. Lots of fun for just a couple hours.

Hmmm, "We pack the nose with power bait." That peaked my interest using hoochies for rainbows... Are you saying you just have line/double-hook setup ran through and use the dough-bait to stuff in there? I have been having great times w/ just dual-hook threaded worm and the garlic power egg at the leading hook right above the threaded worm head.

My buddy uses the double hook set up, I use the smallest squid I can and use one hook. For the pink squid I use a red hook. Sometimes I cut a portion of the skirt off to shorten it up and decrease the soft bites that don't get the hook. I am inept and haven't worked on tying my own double hooks. We were looking for a way to use power bait and keep it on there bite after bite (same idea for the invention of power eggs). Early in the spring, most of the big fish were gobbling red chronomids (or something similar) that was the reason for red.

Nice, the secret is out now. Nose packing, like a boxer...
