Got to the lake around 7:30 launched at the wdfw site. We were targeting smallmouth but didn't get any all day. I caught 5 small rock bass and a 9" rock bass thats pictured. My buddy scott caught 3 small rock bass and a 10" trout. All were caught on rooster tails except the 9" RB that was caught on a texas rigged 4" yamasencko watermelon/lemon laminate. It was both of ours first attempt at catching small mouth which is why I rated it at 4 since we didn't catch any. It was a decent day. Caught the big rb just near the fishing dock near the va.

I once read an article in a Field and Stream magazine that there have been many freshwater state record fish, such as rockbass, bluegill, perch and crappie that may have been released unchecked because of their smaller sizes compared to other more well known species. cbarlow253's reply is an example.

This whole freshwater fishing is still new to me but I read some where that these guys barely get over 12" so I figured it was a good size. It was some pretty good eatin too.

If you ever catch a 12" rocky....chances are, it's VERY close to the state record. It would be cool to do that just to say you had a state record though
