There was a battle in my bedroom this morning, mind over body. Mind said “The alarm is going off. It is 4:30am. Time to hit American! Oh ya, lets get going.” Body responded by laying there. My mind surrendered and slept until 8am.
I got up thinking I am not going to miss out on fishing. I went to the Clear Lake near my home. I would try and see how it would fish this late in the morning. If nothing, oh well. If something then I learned something new about fishing mid-morning.
I was on the water about 9am. I had a lot of bites without sticking. Got one kokanee in the box and released a small one. My 2 lines on the downriggers kept tangling. I had a couple of fish on one rod and it would hit the other line would strip it off. This is the first time this has happened on my boat. Sunday it happened to me on another boat. The amazing part on this cloudy day was the trout that got away. I had a good hit at 20 feet of wire in 39 feet of water. It was out of the clip and pulling hard. I was reeling it in and seen the top of its back fin. It was a trout and it was big. I go to grab my net and see that I didn’t lengthen it. Fancy net has a adjustable handle. Oh well, just got to get it closer to the boat, which I do. Stick the net in the water and it takes off. Line zinging off my reel and the drag wasn’t loose! Wow! This one is big. I get it closer to the boat and feel the head shakes and it swims away. Well that was a good fight from a good fish. I was using Dick Nite Pink Splatter dodger and Wannafish A Lures Pink Splatter all morning form 9-12. Now I know that when the war wages again, I feel, that mid-morning fish is good, too, even though I only brought one home (less to clean).
We are in a battle! Angler against fish! We need an arsenal of weapons and at my site you will find some of those different weapons. For all those who wannafish a lure come in and take a look at WannafishALure.com.
