This is my first time back at Meridian since I moved. I think only my 2nd time there this year. My 1st outing was sometime early spring with no fish. Today was a little bit better.

Started off the day with partly cloudy skies @ about 8:30AM. After about 30 mins on the water, the cloud cover got thicker and looks like it might rain a little.... After a while, there was a little drizzle here and there.

1 hour later, still no sign of bass. Found lots of perch though and they were decent size for Lake Meridian. Several close to 9" or so.

Anyways, I'm fan casting and all of a sudden, I get a solid hit. ZZZZIIIIPPPP goes the drag. OH YEAH! FINALLY!!!! The fish hasn't shown itself yet. Keeps digging down. I'm thinking a good size LMB. Still can't see the fish. I'm only in ~9' of water. I finally get it to surface and it's a big SMB! ZZZIIIIPPPPP goes the drag again and it's digging downwards. Now I see it's wrapping me around some weeds!!!!! This rod only has 6lb test on it. Oh noes!!! I keep playing the fish and it rips the weeds. Now I have a big SMB and clumps of weeds. Maintain pressure on rod and was able to scoop it into the net.

My biggest fish of the year so far, how sad, lol.
18" @ 3lb 14oz.

I keep fishing around the lake. Caught a little 4" LMB. I dont even know how it got hooked. I lost small LMB on a crank. It was maybe 10".

By noon, the sky was turning blue and sunny all around.

It's good to know this lake still has some big fish in it. I was afraid they got fished out with all the pressure.
