I took my good friend Jim fishing to Lake Tapps fo rthe firt time this year. There is always the fear that when you take out a good friend you will have a horrible day or catch absolujtely nothing. Well that was not the case. We caught 44 or 45 Smallmouth Bass with the largest going 3 lb 15 oz, one 3 lb 6 oz, and several that were mid two pound range. Of the 44 or 45 there were only four I would classify as dinks. We caught all the fish in 14 to 28 ft of water. Only two were caught on a drop shot rig and the rest were caught on A Carolina Rig. Water temp was mid 70's topping out at noon at 76.8 degrees. Fish have finally settled down on a summer pattern. Our hot weather last week finally did the trick. My friend said the day on a scale of 1 to 10 was a 10 plus. That made me feel good. I guess I was a good guide for a day. LOL.
