Hated to have missed fishing last weekend, so was glad to be on the lake today. Fished 11-6pm. Started out in the normal windy conditions this lake usually offers. Our anemometer showed 5-10.5 MPH winds making for some small whitecaps.
As the day went on the winds slowed to 5mph and almost calm by the time we trailered the boat.
It was partly sunny and even cool with the breeze. Great weather in our book. The chop had probably aerated the water and cooled it - 69.4-70.4 all over the lake even in the shallows.
Had a picnic lunch on shore this time with some nasty hot dog brand we won't buy again.
Fishing? Oh yeah. Caught and released 28 today. P. had a tough day boating two LMB and loosing about 4.
K. boated 7 and lost 3-4. He had on a really nice trout but couldn't get it above the water line. I boated 19 fish.
All were LMB except one small cutthroat. I get to claim largest bass too. Was trolling across the lake and he hit in the middle by an underwater hump. (When we started the day, the launch level was too low to get in the boat from there so like always in late summer, one of us trolls around to the rocks and picks up the other two away from the launch ramp. While doing so a family with three kids had just started to fish from shore, so they asked us questions about fishing here.
Six hours later as we are landing the largest bass of the day, here comes the dad and two of the kids on a peddle boat coming out to say hi to us again. Got to prove we weren't BSing about fishing there and having some regular success. )
