Had a friend visiting from the east coast who doesn't do much fishing. He wanted to catch a bass, so I took him to Pine Lake to try for some SMB. Launched at 6:30a with the lake to ourselves. Started him with the easy go-to Senko wacky rigged. I was pitching a crawfish-looking creature bait T-rigged. We were just working them slowly over the bottom from the shore back to the boat. After an hour I'd had a few nibbles, but he'd had nothing, so I hooked him up with a rig similar to mine. He immediately hooked one, but couldn't get it to the boat. I boated one shortly after that. The fish were not overly aggressive and we lost more than we caught. Most were dinky. Managed four to the boat (two each) and lost a couple right at the rail. Largest was probably two pounds. Rest were pound to pound and a half. Quit at 11am. It was not fast and furious, but there was enough action to keep us interested.....and my buddy caught his first bass. Mission completed. Not bad for the end of August.
