PLEASE HELP US IDENTIFY MYSTERY FISH! My son and I went out to the walk-in Seward Park Fishing pier to get some perch. It was rather crowded but that did not diminish the fishing. We were able to catch several nice perch on worms in just a short time. One was a nice 10 inches. It was very enjoyable. However I am really writing this report because after about 1/2 hour of fishing I hooked into a monster. It was a fish that I could not identify that was cruising the bottom. It was exactly 20 inches long and shaped somewhat like a salmon or a trout but was not as feisty and had large scales. Definately not in salmonid family. Large scales but not as large as a carp. Its mouth had no teeth. Its top fin was small and not spiny. The tail was v shaped but had two bands of color. Fish was mottled green and brown. White bottom. Did not put up much of a fight. Anybody that can help us identify this fish please write. We would be very grateful. apex@seanet.com. See photo below.
