Business has been slow, so home early from work. Decided to try Green Lake... maybe regain some fishing mojo... mine gone lately, as trips to rivers and salt have produced nada! Arrived about 3:00PM, sunny but very windy all fternoon, wind from the north. Started with orange PowerBait, then ol' standby, chartreuse, then pink. All of them produced the same... nothing! Not even a bite! Fished from 65th St. pier, east side of lake.Only thing I caught was a pink ball that was blown across the lake, right up to the pier. Don't know exactly how it should be filleted? Probably won't do well on the barbecue anyway! Will save it for the grandchildren.
Water temp. at 10' was 70 degrees, so water is beginning to cool down. Saw no sign of a fish, and appeared that I was the only one silly enough to be fishing this day. Saw no other fishers.
About 4:00PM I noticed some dark smoke arising from a point due north of the lake, directly across from me. The smoke column grew larger and darker, and was apparent that a fire was growing out of control. Did not have my cell with me, or would have called 911. About 10 minutes later, sirens could be heard all around the lake. Took them about 30 minutes to get the fire out. Hope no one hurt!
All in all, good to be fishing on a beautiful, albeit windy afternoon. Great day for sailing, not so good for catching... except for large pink balls! I wonder if it will help with the mojo? PTL!
