To make a long story short, my buddy and I fished Horseshoe from 7am to 3:30pm and caught 3 fish. One on a spinnerbait and the other two on a Strike King worm. We threw crankbaits, swimbaits, spinnerbaits, frogs, poppers, plastics, jigs, everything. We even tried the dropshot on some BIG fish we marked hanging 18' down in 20' of water, but came up nil. Lots of kayaks out and the waterfall is cool. Check out Devils Well if you go there.
Never willing to give up, we headed to Millers One Stop for a quick snack and put in at Eloika. The lake is so weedy it's a top water paradise but your prop will bind up often. Even the clear areas were only a foot above a thick carpet of weeds. As the sun slowly sank the action picked up. The bass were smashing our Booyah frogs hard! We missed quite a few but managed to get 9 to the boat. Nothing huge, except the ones we missed! Most about 2lbs, 2 dinks (don't know how they got the frog in thier mouths) and my friend got the largest at 3lb 4oz. The action shut off at dark, about 8pm. Anyday on the water is awesome so we didn't care about the extra slow start, and the explosive flury at the end made it well worth it.
