My son-in-law and I took my Port-A-Bote to Clear Lake yesterday for an afternoon of relaxation and perch-hunting. He caught two dinks and a four-inch SMB within two hours and we were pretty disgusted. Headed to the launch around 6 PM and the "bite" was on, nailed a dozen nice perch within the next hour, more fish than we'd seen caught between the more than eight or so other boats we'd seen fishing along with us all day. This was our first trip to Clear and won't be our last..wouldn't advise going when school's out though, the skiers and racers and nuts out here, everybody with a motor on their transom wants to show off how fast they can go! Now that school's back in session and Mt Rainier is in full view, I'd really encourage you to head out there and drown a couple worms, enjoy the fresh air, and get out of the house!

Life's short, keep your lines Tight

Jigs jigs jigs. If your after perch here run a yellow body white tail crappie tube jig about 1 to 1.5 inch with 1/32 nd ounce insider tube jig head on 4ld test and a small tip of worm on the hook. Let that hit bottom and jig it slow back to the boat youll nail em. I hit some big perch though tryin to catch smb on a dropshot rig at the 23 to 26 ft deep line right near the first bouy closest to the launch 2 days ago. Those jigs work all over around here though and for a variety of fish. You can get a ton of them for cheap at jannsnetcraft.com. try it and let me know how you do. Nothing better thAn seeing the kids face light up when they are catching instead of fishing.
