Well went to my usual spots in the Fremont cut. Was lookin for some smallmouth, and any largemouth would have been great. The only thing I cought were a few yellow perch. First time I've hooked one in that canal. A guy told me there were people catchin 6-8 inch Salmons there all morning.I think that guy dosn't know what salmon look like. People were probly catchin rockbass or perch.

HAHA I think your the first person to notice that, or atleast the first to say somthing about it! I have noticed I am cathcing perch in the spots where I have been catching bass. I guess that comes with the weather change. Also the water level in the lakes I fish are 6 plus feet lower this summer than the rest of the year. So the big fish are further out,and out of my from shore fishing reach. I'm excited for coming trout and perch season! I had some big smallies in the spring and early summer, but the "drought" just killed the shore fishing this year.

salmon actually frequently travel through the canal during the fall so i wouldn't be surprised at all. i caught a silver on a deep diving crankbait last fall when fishing for smallies.
