First trip to Davis Lake, noticed right away that the launch ramp is shallow and requires a long travel to slip off the trailer. Set out and started working the East rock wall for LMB, using plastics, mostly crawfish, game hogs, senko's etc. Not one hit for the first hour and a half. Switched to crawlers and plugs while working the last section of the East side. No luck. Changed all gear to light tackle ie: perch gear, trout lures and prepared for the long troll along the South side, and west side of the lake. Immediately my buddy Karl hooks a small perch, and four more small perch are on ice. As we headed along the West side panther martins and weddings rings tipped with crawler were slow trolled to the launch. 1 hookup, a nice fat 13 inch RBT. Water was glassy all day, we were the only boat on the lake, a fun trip. We marked fish all day, mostly between 8 and 25 feet. I'll be back in the spring.
