Finally had a day off with enough time to get the boat out.
I wanted to try American Lake again to experiment with a few new lures, techniques and enjoy the lack of fishing pressure/ boat traffic.
Although it was a fairly clear day with high ceilings and great visibility, the winds (5-10 MPH) were a bit tough to negotiate while trolling by myself and very labor intensive!
I tried mostly wedding rings and spoons at various depths, colors and speed, but difficult to get a consistent course and speed.
I finally got the skunk off of the boat as I was returning to the ramp in early afternoon! Only one hookup for the day, but I did get her into the boat. Dick Nite 50/50 Dodger with a Dick Nite size 0 spoon in Nickel/ Frog pattern. I really have learned to like the Dick Nite products and a definite "go to" primary lure for me. I was at 30' on the wire and unsure of my speed as I had the wind at my back.
Still beats a day at the office and thoroughly enjoyable as there were only 2 other boats spotted the entire day!
