I wanted to skip work on Friday and hit the Skykomish but the could not get up so early in the morning. I was sure it would have been great but also had a lot of work so went to work instead.
To make up for it I planned to hit the Green Lake this morning for a short try at the bows. In the morning at 6:30 I had to fight a big battle with myself to get out of bed and somehow managed to be out the door by 7.

It was a beautiful day, very cold but the lake was calm and the sun was making an appearance. I put the powerbait rod in the ground and started rotating spinners on the other rod.
In 20 minutes I had a big bite on powerbait and the fight was on. Such a big difference between the trout from the spring and the fall ones. This first one fought like a salmon with 2 jumps and multiple runs. It was just a joy on a light rod. I was kind of freezing but when I pulled it to shore I realized I was warm all of a sudden. The best trout fight I ever had.

I kept trying the spinners but after a while I realized that the key was the powerbait so I set the second rod on powerbait and waited.

I soon lost another big bite and then managed to bring in 2 more shiny bows, not such feisty fighters as the first one but still a lot of fun.

After a while the wind started to blow but the sun made up for it.

I had to leave by 11. It was such a great day to be out fishing.

Good you got out in such crisp clean weather! Your are certainly correct, UltraLight gear is the best...! I have been using a 6'6" ML rod on the CHUM for my river "UL-gear". Wished i could rock a 4' UL i use for trout-fishing!
