Well, there was a break in the rain forecast, so I drove up to Fort Lewis to try my luck again at the American Lake fishing dock. I had a late start and didn't get a line in the water until 9:30. I was fishing off the bottom with yellow Power Bait - again, as usual. The only other fisherman on the dock was using night crawlers. He wasn't getting a nibble. I didn't either, until about 10:30. Once the bite started, however, it came on with regularity. In the next hour and a half, I put a limit on the stringer, ranging from 18 inches to 13. There is a nice pot of trout chowder in my immediate future.
I failed to hook into one of the really big trout I was seeking, but five nice fish landed in 90 minutes is a good day of fishing, to me.
