Got on the lake and started fishing at about 0800. Not a single bite until 0900 then the bite was on. For the next 2 hours I averaged a fish every 10-15 minutes. From 1100 till 1200 not a bite again. I was not lucky enough to pick up any larger Rainbows this trip, but most are about 2.25+ lbs. I did catch 2 nice Cuts though. Both were right at 21". I am pretty much a catch and release fishermen so let most of the fish go to live for another day of fishing. I trolled the south end, 1.7 mph, 2 colors, and most anything Chartreuse seemed to work. Weather was great with little to no wind. Great day fishing.

This is the first good news I've heard regarding Sprague since the DNR destroyed, ahem, .... *rehabilitated* the lake. Hopefully we'll get back into some decent ice fishing this year!! :)

Let me rephrase that. I'm hoping the spiny rays (bluegill, perch, crappie) return to a lake that the DNR insists be a trout-only lake. Despite the fact it really should be a spiny ray lake due to its nature and characteristics....

Nice man! I've never fished that lake. Even though I've driven by it 100 times I just never thought of fishing it

Hey Wormeater....Nice Fish, Great report. What is the public launch like these days?

The launch is in good shape. Being that the water level is still low I have found it is easier to launch...reason why...the bottom drops off faster the further out you go. I do not have to back up as far to reach deeper water.

Sounds like fun. Is it just me or do the spots on that fish make it look like it is possibly a cross with a brown? Thanks for the report!

Ya, those spots are a little bit different. I wounder if it is a cross? There are a lot on that fish. Maybe it has chickenpox?lol
