tluedeke got me to thinking about poor neglected pond 1, and I found a precious 3 hours to literally run into the lake (Jiggy has seen the truth of that) with the pontoon (on wheels) and try out some new lure designs. There was even sunshine without rain for a while. With 2 hours to check how the lures wiggled, jiggled or flopped through the water, I really didn't expect much. I was wrong. The bass were up kind of sunning themselves, and seemed pretty hungry. Caught 6 in that short time, which surprised me this time of year. 2 new designs, one in conjunction with Jiggy, worked, and caught 3 each, but I was mildly pleased that the new design caught the one pictured. Anyway, after 6 fish and "one more cast" I made it back for my appointment, with a partially sincere apology to my client for the fish smell, but he fishes, also, so it was fine. Also had one perch on, even though I wasn't targeting them.

Rocky, sometimes I have, but the ice better be really thick. There are odd currents in most of those ponds and often have weak spots in the ice. I love safe ice fishing, but not when it's iffy. I've fished most lakes and even some backwaters of the Columbia through the ice. My first decent sized bass was 3lbs+ through the ice at Banks Lake on a live waterdog, 52 years ago (I was 5). More info than asked for, but there it is.

And God Bless you as well!

Joe. It's nice to see that you got to get out and field test our lure designs. I've got a new "Death Spiral Minnow" that really works and will be featured in a future issue of Crappie Now Magazine, as well as 14 new colors for my 1" Fliptail Nymph panfish lure line. They should be a terror through the ice if it gets hard enough to fish! Great report sir. Jiggy
