The rumors of a short Steelhead season has had me on the river for the last several weekends, but I finally got to get back out on Chelan on Sunday morning. We started fishing about 8 am in the lower basin of the Lake. The bite was pretty slow to start off, but once we found em' it really picked up! We were runnning 4 rods armed with the Ace Hi-Fly and Smile Blade combo and that seemed to do the trick! Speeds between 1.2 and 1.4 mph worked best, but we were getting a lot of short strikes. Dropping the kicker to an idle sometimes helped those leery fish to hold on after a few light strikes. Found most of our fish between 170 and 220 feet of water. Couldn't have asked for better weather! We ended our morning venture with 11 Lakers for the smoker! Big thanks to Dave, Teri, and Jenn for hitting the water with me this weekend!!
