Launched out of Suncrest once again and headed to our honey hole. Got to our spot at about 0800 and had the first fish, a big fat perch, in the boat at about 0805. The bite was fast and furious for about an hour and half then died out. The total for three of us, Glenn, Lee and me, was 34 crappie and 17 perch. We also caught five sqawdogs and promptly fed them to the eagles. If you've never had an eagle snatch a fish only 25' from the boat your missing out on one of natures best sites. We drop shotted once again with most of the fish coming out of 48'-52' of water. Black and chartreuse or brown and chartreuse in tubes or grubs were once again the ticket. The fish still wanted no action, just drag the drop shot up and down the river channel edge. Crappie averaged 11-12 inches and the perch a nice fat 10 inches. Water temp was 44 degrees and visibility about 6 ft. No wind with an air temp around 36. Another fine winter day.

growing up we used to catch little rainbows and we would toss them to the eagles on goss lake, that talons and the speed are insane when they are close to the boat!!

You, sir, are a hero to me! Most folks would be in their warm living rooms, reading brain candy like Steven King, or jellifying their brains with NFL (or, to be charitable, waiting for safe ice). But no, you are out there finding the spiny rays in inhuman conditions.

You guys are a credit to *real* manhood!!

:)

P.S. Seriously, I'm following your posts, and trying to learn something about late (LATE!) season spiny rays. You guys are an inspiration!
