It was a beautiful morning to be out at Greenlake, a little on the chilly side, but no wind or rain. I met Bryne Chum at the dock by the boat rentals. Haven't fished at that particular dock in a while, and until today, I don't think I have ever successfully caught a fish there. I got there at sunrise, but Bryne was delayed. I had one pole set up with powerbait, and another with worms.

After about 10 minutes I saw the line with the powerbait suddenly go slack. I reeled in a little of the slack, and gave the line a few little tugs, but didn't feel anything on the other end. Dissapointed, I figured the egg sinker had just come loose from the bottom, and started reeling in to check my bait. There were a couple of bumps that I thought might just be the weight bouncing on the bottom, and finally there was that unmistakeable tug. I think the fish must have been swimming around oblivious to the fact that it had a hook in its mouth, until I'd gotten some decent tension on the line. The fish put up a nice fight, and I ended up landing a 1 pound rainbow. I texted a picture over to Bryne to motivate him to hurry over.

Another hour went by, and then the rod with the worm on the bottom started twitching. This fish put up quite a bit of fight too, and Bryne helped net me a 13.5" 1.5 pound rainbow. I was pretty pleased, especially since I only had about 2 hours to spend. I usually have to put in a lot more time at Greenlake to bring home fish. I was also happy because my in-laws are visiting, and I got to come home with a couple of nice sized trout to show off.

The fish almost look shellacked, after being coated in water. The water adds a nice presentation to the fish for the picture. Heck of a scale, should cover anything swimming in Green Lake. I had a spring scale like that, maxed out @100lbs!

Man Gort is like the fish wisperer. If you go fishing with him, be prepared to watch him cathcm all day. Last week I lost one due to broken leader, an hour later Gort pulled it in with my hook and leader still in its mouth LOL.
