Hit upper Twin at 10:30. Took my dad ice fishing for the first time in many years. The weather was perfect, cold but no wind, sunny with a few passing clouds. We fished straight out from the launch with no bites in 15.9 FOW. We headed out another 50"yards and found 17-17.2 FOW. Fish started to bite right away. Started with maggots and changed to eyes. We tried some Berkly gulp maggots with not one bite. I caught 4 to each one my dad caught. It was his first time using a spring bobber. I forgot to tell him to watch the bobber vs the feel of the bite. He finally got the hang of it. We had another school come through and fishing was fast. The perch hit as soon as you got your line close to the bottom. I lost another two jigs today below my flasher from my Swedish pimple. I am unsure if it was a pike but the line was cut clean again. I set one tip up in hopes of catching a pike but no such luck today. When the school left it was slow fishing. We caught 40 between the two of us keeping 15. Largest was 8.5 inches, smallest to small to share. Dad must have caught that one. Ice was 5.5 to 6 inches. No slush or water. 2 inches of light powder on top. About 4 groups of fisherman on the lake today. We left at 2:00. A great day fishing with dad. I am looking forward to many more now that the football season is over for our Packers.
