With a slow troll and Rapala's. For many years we would catch 3 to 6 lb cuts. easy. But it's been 15 years. My family and I will be moving back to East side soon. Look forward to fish Sammamish & Washington..

1/24/2013 6:44:00 AMI've had some of my best numbers for cutts in Lake Sammamish in late November and early December, up to 15 to 20 per day C&R. The south end of that lake was loaded with them when the hatch was on in late November (locals called it the January bug). The biggest cutt I've landed in Sammamish during 2012 was just shy of 19 inches and all of the cutts in that lake are very thin compared to Lake Washington cutts. The biggest cutt we landed in Lake WA was just under 23 inches. Typically, a 17 inch cutty from Lake WA weighs about twice as much as the same length fish in Lake Sammamish this winter. However it is rare for me to get more than 2 fish per day in Lake WA. It's a quality vs quantity tradeoff between these two lakes. My guess is that the bait fish are so thick in Lake WA this winter that the cutts have become fat and happy, and are content to watch your presentation sliding by. I'm hoping the spring warmup will stimulate the bite in Lake WA and produce some very nice and healthy fish. Tight lines, see you out there!
