Well, I got to Mineral Lake at 6 am. Immediately after launch, I tossed out a rainbow colored rooster tail, just to have some in the water. I wasn't even past the 1st dock, when the pole began to dance. Unfortunately, it was just a small perch. That's pretty much how the day went, toss out trout lures, catch a perch. Toss out worm troll, catch a perch. Great fishing if you like perch. One of the locals told the lake had just been stocked two days ago, which may explain the shyness of the trout. Apparently the water temp at the hatchery is 50-55 degrees, this lake was much warmer. The sudden influx probably made the resident fish skittish, while the temp shock to the new fish kept them from biting. Should be good fishing this weekend. I'll be there with my youngest daughter (look for the cowboy hats in a dinghy).
