What a great day to be back fishing! Some of you probably thought I died or something, I was doing 2 reports a weeks to nothing last week. Well I tore my MCL and chipped a piece of my femur or some bone in my leg. Today was the first day I could get back to fishing.
It was a great first day back I got my limit and saw lots of other fish caught too.
The weather was great it was a little cold but not much wind and the water was almost glass the whole time on the water.
It took about 3 hours to get the limit, the first 3 came very quickly and 1 came on the first cast. The last 2 fish took the remaining amount of time. The last 2 fish were both 15 inches (they are the ones in the top of the picture) the fish on the bottom is a 16 incher that a friend caught this morning also.
I have been looking at every fish very closely after the all the talking about cutthroats in American and I would like to point out in the picture (picture does not show very well but obvious in real life) that the top fishes mouth goes past his eye but has no pink or red on the side like a cut but the fish on the bottoms mouth clearly does not go past its eye and looks like it has markings of a cutt. Just thought I would throw that tidbet of info out there. Either way you look at it catching fish in Dec-Feb this year has been amazing!
still using the exact same setup since the begging of December 6ft leader, size 6 red hook, 2 power eggs (either lemon lime or yellow), garlic scent, 1/2 ounce egg sinker, and a little patience.
I saw lots of boats out this weekend hopefully someone else has something to report.
Good luck to everyone and hope to see lots of great reports from American Lake

The picture on the right is the leg/knee brace that I have to wear for 6-8 weeks. I threw a picture of it in because the beautiful lake was in the background.

Thanks for the report. I agree, Cutt / RBT / RBT from left to right. The best method of ID is to check the tongue for sharp little grabby teeth (rostral teeth), cutts have them along the sides all the way to the back, RBT not so much. Nice pics.

Great report. Got time to try my luck on the Ft Lewis side. Three nice bows in two hours. The last one was really nice other two were in the 14-15 range. Nice to wet a line this time of year and there were a lot of boats out there Sunday . That garlic sauce makes a difference thanks for the tip. I am still trying to figure out the fisheries in Western Washington so nice to have this site and the pros on it

scent makes all the difference in the world, I fished for years without it and would not even think about fishing without it now.

Sorry about your leg Mike. I will be fishing on the otherside of the lake during lunch hour. It's job related of course!

1SG its nice that we have jobs where we can fish at lunch. Have you taken the boat out again? Keep me posted and let me know how you do. depending on what the surgeon says I am going to try and get out on a boat here within the next week or so.
