Great day fishing with my daughter, the "fish wisperer" at the Dam on Riffe Lake...she couldn't keep them off her line. We both got a limit, but it took us a couple hours as they were pretty difficult to hook...we lost several fish before we figured out that you need to let them have the bait for a couple seconds before setting the hook.

Shrimp on a sliding float at about 6-7' deep was the charm.

Off to fire up the smoker

nice! great to see those kids with big smiles on their faces!! should heat up real soon as the weather warms up some more. They look pretty chunky for this early in the season so that bodes well for the future! thanks for the report!

I would like to take my father up there he doesn't get out much anymore. One or two questions are we talking small cooked shrimp or sand shrimp? Is it easy to access the dam and do you bring chairs or is it a standing thing? Thank you for you response

Kokaholic,
Yup, the small cocktail shrimp...microwave them for 20-30 seconds to toughen them up a bit so they stay on the hook better. The access is pretty good with concrete steps leading down to some large bedrock ledges...you could easily setup a folding chair down there for your dad.

I've also used cut up small prawns and put them in a bag with some rock salt to toughen them up.
