Took my brother in law from Boise ice fishing at Fernan from 8:15 to 11:30. There was water at the shore line. We saw two others fishing the North end so we gave it a go. There was a wood plank that was laying on the ice to get from shore to the ice. A little creepy near the edge. With this weather this may be the last week to fish Fernan. Once we got out 20 feet the ice was a good 4 inches thick very solid. We fished across the lake off a point. Trout was caught in the first 30 minutes in 27 FOW, perch were caught in 21 FOW. We missed a few fish today which is not the norm. Drilled a lot of holes and tried close to shore and out 200 yards out or so. Most action was around 20-22 feet. Trout was 13.5 inches and perch were fat both 9 inches. Ice was much thicker on the East side of the lake almost 8 inches. I spoke two the other two gentleman and they managed 35 keepers. They were fishing more in the middle North of us. We then headed to Upper Twin. 5 groups on the ice when we arrived around noon. Fish are getting smaller every week. Only fished 1 hour. Caught 20 but no size or keepers. Ice was in great shape at 7 inches. Many fisherman fishing lower Twin again. Used glow jigs tipped with worm or fish eyes. Got nothing on maggots.
