I headed to Green Lake today with my girlfriend, a picnic lunch, and my trout rod to see if I could catch one of the stocked rainbows. During lunch I plunked some powerbait while we were eating and then I tied on about three feet of flourocarbon and a rooster tail before heading out on a walk around the lake's shore, stopping at any spot I could cast from that wasn't directly into the wind. At the t-dock by the boat rental I felt a nice tug on the first cast and brought in a gorgeous 14" rainbow. It was a great fight and took a couple nice dives as it got close to the dock, hit the lure hard on the strike, and had some legitimate head shakes on my light set-up. Not bad for a walk around the lake with my lady and pretty benign after a long cold winter of trying to land a steelhead.
