A big thanks to Phil Miller for coming out and fishing with me. We had a great time. The weather was sunny, cloudy, windy, calm, rainy, snowy, balmy... well, I guess it was March. We fished the first few hours in the trench for Lakers and got a nice bunch. Then we worked the transition zone from Mill Bay into the flat and caught Kokanee. The Lakers mostly bit Silver Horde's Kingfisher Lite Spoons in Double Orange Splatterback Glow. The Kokanee hit Mack's Lures Mini Cha Cha Squidders in Orange. The were fished 16" behind a Mack's double D dodger at 1.3 mph. We had to vary depth from 35 to 115 feet to keep hitting them in the head. The Kokanee are really starting to bite.

Phil actually was the engineering officer on the USS Enterprise. What a great guy to share a terrific day on Lake Chelan with!

Out of the 23 total fish. 13 look to be Kokanee, with 10 lakers mixed in the bunch. Look for the blue, forked tail, with sharp tips (Kokanee). Next to a brownish colored tails with rounded tips (Laker).

Thanks for the informative post. I appreciate the gear and presentation recommendations for targeting kokanee. Looks like you've got 'em pretty well dialed-in. Love the bald eagle pics too!
