This was my first time fishing Riffe from a boat. I fished with Washington Lakes member eenakok and his dad. We had an awesome time but the weather and the conditions were not the greatest.
First off the launch ramp was pretty crazy, but the boat launched just fine (the trailer had rollers not bunks) once we got out in the water it was so windy that we could not keep the boat going the way we wanted. We tried multiple spots with no luck. We decided to fish a shore that they had never fished (i think it would be the N shore if you are looking at the dam) The weather was a little calmer on this side and we started to fish. We ended up getting 5 hear but we threw everything in our tackle boxes at them. I caught my two on my American Lake Kokanee setup and the other three were caught in all sorts of different things.
The fish we did catch the fish finder would show a school and we would drop into it and BAM fish on. The only problem was we were not really finding any schools. What I also found weird was all fish came from between 35 and 53 ft. Considering people were catching them at the dam with a slip bobber I did not expect to have to go down this deep!
Long story short, great day of fishin bad day of catchin.
I am really enjoying getting to try a few other lakes. 2 weeks ago I went to Lake Washington for the first time and got my first cutt there. (also with eenakok and his dad)
I will try and post some pics of the boat ramp because I did not take any pics of the fish, to me they just looked like you average Riffe lake silvers. I would say they were all between 12 and 13 inches but we did not measure them.
I should mention that while we were there fishing the water dropped over 6 more inches! it was very difficult to get the boat on the trailer because the water was so shallow. We actually ended up driving over to mayfield lake and re launching and getting the boat on the trailer better for the drive back home. I believe the water level was around 717 and they say the launch is usable at levels of 720. We made it happen but the owners of the boat said they probably would not do it again without a level of 730.
Great luck to everyone in their fishing adventures!

Mike -
It was good fishing with you again. Even though the catching wasn't the best, it was quite the adventure. Great report!

Thanks for the report! I wonder if they are going to let out any water from Scanewa soon to help get the water level up? Had success on Lake WA yesterday finally so will probably stick close to home for a while.

888-502-8690 will get you all of TPU's lake levels.Took the wife, step daughter, and her boyfriend who are visiting from california fishing on riffe yesterday.only difference between our trip and yours was the weather was great.Fishing was slow till we found a spot bout five miles up along the south shore. And then same story, schools on fishfinder were few and far between, find one and then get a few bites.Silver macs lure flashlites pulling a green wedding ring tipped with shrimp, crawler and shoepeg corn got the most bites.Glad i got a lever that turns my cummins truck into a tractor at the ramp!LOL!
