After reading recent reports about the lake being open and free of ice I just had to get up there and give it a try. My friend Andrew, and my son and I trolled recently reported spots looking for the fish without luck. We headed for our regular fishing grounds but found that empty as well. Trolling along the northwest part of the lake I went to bring in the downriggers and found one of them tangled up with some fishing line that must have broken off someone elses rod. Much to my surprise it had a 2 pound trout still attached to it!

Fishing was tough and the light faded fast. We fished various depths all around the lake from 25' to 50' and 1.7 to 2.5mph. I guess I'll have to get up there in the morning this coming weekend and see if the fishing is better.
