Went to Merwin to fish with a friend from the kokanee fishing forum. We started about 8a.m. and fished 'tll about 2p.m.We caught 11 kokanee between 3 of us, using sling-blades and hootchies. Rain off and on, sorry, no photos this trip, but some great looking kokes around 10 to 13 inches.Using both corn and nightcrawler tails, both worked.Lamiglass replaced the new rod I sat on after giving it to Melanie for Christmas, we hit the factory store after fishing.GREAT folks at Lamiglass.Didn't get to use it at Merwin, but will give it a workout at Lake Quinalt opening day. It's a 7 ft. MDC 702UL kokanee special., I have the slightly heavier CG70DR 7 ft. with the non-custom 4601c3 abu garcia and like it.Melanie wanted something lighter and more sensitive. It's not easy to find super light downrigger rods. I got a Kokanee Custom 4601 kokanee reel by abu garcia (with clicker!)for the new rod, just spooled with the new power pro slik8 braid, 15lb. test.Feels like a dream! Now for a killer kokanee dinner tonight! Bob R
