Thought I would try Rotary with my brother today. Another great day for crappies. We caught over 100 fish using a white crappie jig under a bobber. Keep a few for dinner.

I live in AZ now and know nothing about those fish. Is it an easy fish to learn to catch? I could use some tips because rumor has it they are everywhere here.

Nicely done. They are biting!

Rip: Last time I was in AZ they were almost everywhere, and bigger average than here. Not a terribly hard fish to learn. jigs and small tubes, minnows if legal, and Jigmiester plastics here lately. Worms and grubs. Light line, like most panfish.

Nice! Can I ask what area of the lake you were fishing at?

Those look darker than average for Rotary.
I noticed over 100. It is hard to keep track when they come in that fast, and when you locate 'em, they do!

trout-killa, I was fishing the highway side, more cover on that side for the crappies. I don't often catch that many crappies at one time. I bet you the next time I go there the fish will have moved on.

Wow, I have been trying to catch crappie in yakima for a while now. Were you using a slip bobber with jigmiester's jig? What depth was the bobber set at?

GordyC once you cast your bobber and jig out did you just let it be or did you jig it or pop your bobber every no and then??

Barberz, all of the above. Best when there's a chop on the water.
