We hit the Launch right as the sun was peaking over the hill tops, got in the water and motored out while I got some rods ready and next was to put the gear in the water so we jammed out to Rocky point. started soaking gear at 0545 first rod went off at 0550 which was non stop till 0730, then it slowed to a hit every 20 min. to 30 min. Conditions were calm at the time and couldn't have asked for a better morning. WT almost 48 degrees, not sure what the air temp was, but brisk with a slight breez. Water got a bit of a chop as the breez turned in to a slight wind coming from the west down lake. We stayed right out in front of Rocky Point until 0900 with 17 koks until we talked to the in-laws that were in another boat, and who said they were on some fish willing to bite. So we trolled over to where they were and picked up our last three to finish our limit of 20 fish by 0945-1000. This was the fastest limit we have got in twelve or so trips that put our combined (In-laws boat and My boat) quota to 201 silvers, which one of those was 21" and just a shake over 3Lbs. I think it might be getting better and better as each day passes. My advise to all is the early bird gets the worm!! The HOT bite has been lasting only an hour or so which Sunday it lasted for two hours or so. Once the Hot bite or frenzy quits, we then we go into search and destroy mode and hunt for the schools and when you find one stay on them as most kokenee nuts know. If you see a boat hit one change your course and head for the area they just passed (With due regard, and not running them or their gear over! Give everyone their room, it's big water and plenty of room for the most part!) I won't mention my opinion of the nuckle heads trying to long line in a group of 50 boats all trying to fish the same area! These fish are too deep and there are too many boats to effectivly long line with out causing problems! Again our productive colors were pink, pink and some pink worked as well! pretty much as I have been told before any color works as long as it has some pink. We used three diffrent colors of flashers that all worked worked great with plain jane shoepeg corn. There really wasn't a dominate producer this trip. Speed seemed to be a little faster then normal at 1.5 to 1.7 right of the bat. Normally we start at 1.3 when we are fishing 60 -75 ft, and speed up as we go deeper. they wanted it fast so we gave it to them fast. I dial my speed in with making lots of turns because you have one side going faster than the other and if it is the fast side getting hits I will pick up my speeds until I start getting a lot of hits going stright, or vise versa I will slow down if the slow rod gets more hits, and I just fine tune it every trip and let the fish tell me what kind of mood they are in for the day, and how they want it. (I'm sure I have been accused of being drunk at 0600 in the morning due to the pattern I run until I dial my speed in) Just remember that all the little things add up and make a big diffrence! I mean really? a couple of tenths of a MPH??? Absolutly! Just like nascar and adjusting tire pressures a quarter pound at a time as the track conditions change, so do fishing conditions.
