We had a killer day this Sunday fishing Kokanee and Mackinaw on Lake Chelan! The wind finally gave us a much appreciated break and we took full advantage of it! We started our day fishing Kokanee in the lower basin. It didn't take more than 5 minutes and we were into fish. We hooked numerous doubles and even landed a triple!! The Kokes seemed to be fairly spread out in the water colum, but I would say on average our most successful depth came between 60 and 70 feet deep. The lures of choice were the Macks Lure Cha Cha Squidders and Kokanee Pro's baited with shoepeg corn! Trolling speed varied between 1.2 and 1.5 mph.
After we put our limits of Kokanee in the boat, we put away the dodgers and corn and switched up to our Laker set-ups. We managed to put a few average sized Lake Trout in the cooler before we hit our last spot just off of Macks Bar. With about 15 minutes left in the trip Justin's rod doubled over and he buried the hooks into a good fish! After a good battle he brought the hogger right to the back of the boat and into the net! The big fish weighed in right at 13 lbs! What a way to end the day!! I want to give a huge thanks to Justin Nuyda and Wes Berg for fishing with me this weekend! Great group of guys!
