WOW! Thats the word that pretty much summed up my first trip to Chelan! I had such an awesome time. I want thank Russ Carver for offering to take me over with him. He is such a nice guy with a great boat who loves to fish we had a great day on the water.
For the fishing report, like I said above I have never fished Chelan before so this was all very new to me. My main goal was to fish it like I would American Lake. I had heard guys were using a little bit larger tackle so I wanted to go prepared with a little of everything. Thanks to eenakok I was able too. He sent me with some of his larger hoochies and larger dodgers.
We were not on the water more than 2 minutes and we had our first Koke on, and he was a beauty measuring at 19". We were all so excited........it took a while to get another one to even bite, but we were hopefull.
Our boat ended up getting 15 in the cooler which is not the 40 we had hoped for but we had such a wonderful time and we went home with some amazing fish!
My first 3 fish came from eenakok setup it was basicly a fairly large plaid dodger with a hoochie that had some beads and a blade like a wedding ring on top in color pink. (Side note: the color that worked was PINK) After I got those three fish to the boat we had a long time with nothing even biting. So I decided I was going to fish it like I would American Lake. On went the small pink splatter dodger and something that I make its basicly a what they call a shrimp with flashing and pink yarn tied underneath with a 8 inch leader. This thing was hot! I got 6 fish in the boat with it and lost atleast 5 more with it.
While this is going on everyone in the boat switches over to my setup and guess what......not a single bite for anyone! I dont understand what happend we must have just got out of the fish. We decided to call it a day because we still had to drive home. the boat did pick up two more on the way back to the boat launch so that was cool.
Most of our fish came between 40 and 80 ft.
This tirp was pretty cool because we did it as a one day trip. By the time I had gotten home tuesday night I had been up 42 hours straight! I will do just about anything for the love of fishing. I left my house to meet up with Russ Carver at 12:30 AM and then we arrived at Chalan right around 6:00AM and we were off the water by 6:PM with a very long drive home. Was it worth it???? YES!
We fished rocky point and did not get a fish, we fished the other side of the lake across from rocky point and put about 5 in the boat. The majority of the fish came almost straight out from the Manson boat launch which is where we launched that morning.
I feel this report is going too long so I am going to quit I could talk about it all day. If you have any questions or if I forgot something let me know.
I already have 2 more trips planned to head back to chelan within the next month.
Thanks agian to Russ, Carl, Soas for making my first Chelan trip such a great one.
In the picture I am posting just so you know my smallest fish was 16 my largest was 18 and all the ones between that were between 17-17.75.

Wow! is all I can say! Great report and nice fish~ you are spoiled now and it will be hard to equal that at American lake! I have got to get over there. Did you do it in one day or spend the night? I have stayed at Mountain view lodge before and was thinking of making a reservation sometime soon and head over there. Hope to see you on American next week!
