Went to Whitman for the first time. On water 11:00 am and off about 3:00. Caught two trout on a Mack's dodger and a purple/orange homemade lure with a power egg on the hook. Since I have a two pole endorsement I figured I might as well take advantage of it. My light rod had a little hand tied jig I pick up at my local sporting good store tied on. I think one of guys there makes them. I just let it out about 50 pulls with one spit shot ahead of it. Well it paid off... FISH-ON! Caught a nice 1lb3oz cat! Man it was a fun to fight on the light rod with 10 braid. It got wrapped up in my son's setup but untangled just in time to net it. I don't know what the fish was doing so high in the water column.In my mind cats just roam the bottom. We filleted it and fried it up. My son always like to see what's its been eating.. stomach was full of half inch long bugs. Some kind of hatch I guess. Also tried for bass around half the docks with crank baits and soft plastic with no takers.
