Nice mildly warm day on Blacksman Lake. Caught a 2 pound 3 ounce, a 1 pound 9 ounce and my father caught a 2 pounder. All rainbows of course, but the colors and red meat of the big ones make them look like a steelhead. All fish were caught on a slip sinker rig with a 4 foot leader on orange power eggs. I tried casting small spoons but all I caught were small 5" cutts. Nice chrome cutts though. Wonder if they're native or stocked? There is a small creek flowing into the lake, wonder if they spawn in that. Anyways, good luck and good fishing!
Regards, Chris.

Oh yah, as for the cuttroat, they are stocked as fry annualy. I don't know if there is much successful spawning, but I know that historicaly, they were a self-sustaining population, with most of the spawning occuring in the NE tributary, can't remember the name. But of course that was before all the waterfront area development. As I remember, there was a guy building a house, or something, and repeatedly going back and forth over it in a bulldozer. Probably didn't help much. :P
