got to south twin lakes on friday with my brother ron, and friends tom and bob, and stayed till wed. fished a lot. the funny thing about it was that the fishing was either stone cold, or absolutely on fire! on good days you could literaly throw out anything and catch fish, to include a lure made of pennies, while other times struggle for the littlest bite. most of the fish were caught on flies, i trolled a chartruce steelhead fly and caught a ton of fish. also the other guys found sucess with nymphs and muddlers. fishing from shore at the channel with rooster tails, i got 22, ron 22, tom 2, bob... 1. guess we had the luck that day. just kept the bleeders, the rest were c&r. best 5 days of trout fishing i have ever had. ever.

Love the pic with the pennies; never have seen that done before. I have always had the philosophy "if the fish are biting they can be caught on almost anything" if they are off the bite it's tough to catch them period.
Looks like you had some nice brookies too. Thanks for the report.

probably don't see that because defacing federal currency is a felony ! doubt you'll get in trouble but why risk ? anyway looks like a good time =) nice looking fish.

If you get thrown in jail over that (the law actually says up to 6 months time), I think we better all move to Canada... Looks like a great fishing day, and that's what's important :)

the penny lure was store bought, and with fake pennies. they were "double tailed". so don t sent the fed's quite yet. best part of the trip was when releasing my partners fish then my 2 pounder while going by another boat, the guy in the other boat says,"now you're just showing off". looked for one of those beer bottle cap lures to try too, but it was in my brother's boat.

Are those Dollies or Brookies? How'd they eat up?

brookies. i don't eat fish, so it's usually c&r, unless i have someone to take them off my hands. i have a list of fish i'm not allowed to throw back. my brother eats them, and likes them better than rainbows, as the meat is redder and more flavorfull.

I grew up on South Twin Lake, It was even better before some southern hillbillie threw in the bass. When the shiners where there, it was a world class trout lake, 12lb rainbows where not unusual, and 5lb plus brooks were caught regularly. Need to take a trip over there again soon!!!
