Met up with Tony (bassplayer17) for the first Crappie fishing adventure of the year. Got the little livie in the water about 1800 and headed for the northeast corner of the lake. Lots of little planter trout being caught but we were after slabs!! Start pitching jigs to the shore and twitching them back under a float. with the water being warm (65.5*) we both figured the males would be up on the beds, not so much. worked along the shore and my float drops! trout, crap. put it on the stringer for a date with the smoker. About ten minutes later my float drops again! trout, #%$#!!! another date with the smoker. Finally about 1945 my float does the tell-tale crappie tip over and side pull, boom! nice little 10" female slabber. fished until dark and pulled one more planter trout onto the stringer. Tony pulled the skunk card for this trip but im sure he is gonna show me up next weekend so i dont feel to bad!!
I was using a small green and white tube tipped with crappie nibbles in white. fished about 14" under a float
Tony was pitching small white gulp worms on a pink jig head under a float
I give it probably another week and this lake is gonna be on fire. for now if you wanna catch some scrappy planter trout they are in abundance there!
All in all a great night, got to get out on the water with a new fishing buddie, shared some laughs and discussed next weekends fishing adventures, sunny and warm and the bugs arent out yet!
Fish on!
