Haven't fished this pond since last year, figured I'd give it another try.
Arrived at 8:30 and was surprised to see 4-5 other cars in the parking lot.

I fished all around the lake, and only had one bite dropshotting roboworms. I switched to the much hyped Rapala Scatter Rap Shad and ended up catching 3 trout, they were fat and between 12-14". For anyone interested in the Rapala Scatter lures, they seem pretty good and look great underwater but about half the time on the cast they don't run correctly and you have to tug it a few times before it will dive, at least when paired with flouro.

Eventually made it to pond 2, the shoreline was filled with people and beer cans, so I left.

Anyone else notice the decrease of bass in these ponds? Or maybe I'm just not fishing correctly.

These ponds are of a size that the populations are seldom in balance, and they do fluctuate year to year. 1 has been declining on bass numbers for a while now, but there are still some in it. The perch were overpopulated and tiny for years, but appear to be gaining in size now. This is not scientific data, just my own observations from what I've caught. I've noticed similar patterns on the other I 90's. By the way, I've had similar results with the Scatters. Not overly impressed.

Ya, I agree with the Scatters. I don't find the action all that great; nothing special for sure.

It is possible that the excess perch mentioned are the problem. Two things can happen. First, all of the excess food makes it hard to convince the bass to take your fake. Second, perch keep a male bass pretty busy protecting the spawn, so it is natural for the numbers of bass to suffer.

I would not be surprised if the bass numbers were down, but the size was up.... on average. I have seen cases where you had some real monsters in waters like that, but you don't find them without using large lures and lots of luck.
